Important Information About Your Upcoming Visit

Your housing/council provider has instructed Morgan Lambert to carry out a safety audit at your property.

This is a routine inspection that may relate to either your gas or electrical installation, depending on the type of audit required.

Please ensure you read all the information below.

Why have I received a message from Morgan Lambert?

You’ve received a text because your housing/council provider has arranged for Morgan Lambert to carry out an audit at your home. This may involve a check of your gas appliances or your electrical installation.

Morgan Lambert are independent gas and electrical safety auditors working across the UK housing sector. We support housing providers to meet safety and compliance standards by conducting post inspections on recently completed work. Our auditors are experienced professionals who carry ID, respect your home, and will be happy to answer any questions while they are on site.

Depending on the audit type, your appointment will focus on either your gas/heating system or your electrical installation.

If our visit relates to gas/heating within your property we may:

  • Require access to your gas meter and gas appliances to conduct specific tests
  • Check any previously produced gas/heating certification
  • Document and report findings back to your landlord

If our visit relates to the electrics within your property we may:

  • Conduct visual inspections of:
    • The electrical intake position (where the electricity enters your home) 
    • The consumer unit (also known as the ‘fusebox’)
    • The main protective bonding conductors and connections (which connect incoming services such as gas and water to the electrical installation)
    • Accessible fixtures and fittings (i.e. light switches, light fittings, and sockets) 
  • Carry out electrical testing at the intake position, consumer unit and at several electrical points within circuits throughout your home
  • Check any previously produced electrical certification/ reports following electrical works or periodic inspections 
  • Document and report findings back to your landlord

Please note, during the electrical testing process the electricity will be switched off for a short period of time. 

On the day of the appointment, please ensure:

  • There is credit on your electric/gas meter
  • You don’t smoke whilst the engineer is at your home 
  • Animals in your home are secured 
  • Relevant gas and electrical appliances/fittings are accessible
